Everyone who is a fan of American Idol should know who David Archuleta is. He came in second place on the 7th season of the show with 44% of over 97 million votes cast during the finale [1]. He had been a front runner from the beginning and had captured millions of hearts from the first note he sang. After the thrilling experience of the American Idols Live Tour, where he performed in over 50 venues along with the rest of the Top 10 [2], he went on to release his debut single, “Crush”, which tore up the charts, landing a #2 debut on the Billboard Hot 100 [3]. Not soon after, he released his self-titled debut album, which has sold over 700,000 copies so far in the US alone [4]. So it’s no doubt that the adorable Archuleta has become a household name across the world. However, a silky tenor voice and charming splendid looks aren’t the only things that Archuleta has in store.

Archuleta’s powerful voice has the power to touch people’s hearts and melt their souls. His persona is like that of no other. He is sweet, kind, caring, humble, funny, gracious, genuine, and truly unique. Day by day, he continues to impress with his down-to-earth nature that is shown in everything he does–blogs, interviews, tweets, and more. He is so superb and giving to his fans, never wanting to turn down a fan asking for a photo or an autograph, and he is a positive influence and role model to all. He has made such a big impact on millions of lives around the world, whether it be motivating them to go out and do something good for the world, giving them hope in rough times with his uplifting songs, or even unprejudiced helping them meet fresh friends. His support for multiple charities, including Rising Star Outreach, has inspired his fans to form groups to raise money for those meaningful causes. He has shown that music is more than just a pretty melody, and he has taught his fans to have more patience and treasure towards others. Thank you David Archuleta for being so selfless and caring towards everyone. You truly are changing the world for the better.

In an act of generosity, American Idol host Ryan Seacrest has donated his paycheck for hosting American Idol’s second annual Idol Gives Back to the cause, according to People.com. The expose, which was taped Sunday, April 6, but will air on April 9 at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT, will raise money to benefit six charities, according to Americanidol.com: The Children’s Defense Fund, Children’s Health Fund, The Global Fund, Make it Right, Malaria No More, and Save the Children.

American Idol’s Idol Gives Back from 2007 raised over $75 million, according to RealityTVWorld.com, raising funds from votes, viewer donations, and donations from sponsors, including Coca Cola, AT&T, Allstate, and Exxon Mobil. According to the Idol Gives Back entry in Wikipedia.com, notable guests on American Idol’s 2007 Idol Gives Back event included Mark Anthony, Kevin Bacon, Jason Biggs, Blue Man Group, Jack Black, Bono, Michael Buble, Helena Bonham Carter, Tom Hover, Matt Damon, Chris Daughtry, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Hugh grant, LeBron James, Chris Kattan, Keira Knightley, Lisa Kudro, Hugh Laurie, Win Lowe, Joel and Benji Arouse (of Good Charlotte), Madonna, Ewan McGregor, Parminder Nagra, Shaquille O’Neal, Gwyneth Paltrow, Dr. Phil, David Schwimmer, Ben Stiller, and a very notable duet between Celine Dion and Elvis Presley, who were brought together on stage using a technique called rotoscoping.

This year’s Idol Gives Back promises to be a much more explain event than last year’s, including guest appearances from Robin Williams, Celine Dion, Forest Whitaker, Billy Crystal, Dane Cook, Kiefer Sutherland, Elliot Yamin, Fantasia, Bono, Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon, Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey, Eli and Peyton Manning, Fergie, Chris Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, Snoop Dogg, Maroon 5, and others, says AmericanIdol.com.

Like last year, no contestants will be eliminated during the Idol Gives Back event, however instead of votes rolling over to the following week as it happened last year, the elimination will occur the following night, April 10.

Anyone inspired by Seacrest’s generosity can follow suit, making donations via a toll-free telephone number and on the internet. You can click here to find the page on the American Idol website with donation instructions. Donations to American Idol’s Idol Gives Back are tax deductible, and everyone who donates will receive a tax receipt.

For most people, car insurance can either come really cheap or you will pay out the nose for it. Other things that come into play when looking for car insurance is how many accidents you’ve been in or how many tickets you have. Age is also a very important factor since you are considered a risk until your in your mid to late 20′s. A lot of think that all insurance companies will offer the same rate which is not true. There are several ways of getting car insurance and I’m going to give you some of those and which will be easier than others.

One of the more popular methods people like to use is the Internet. There are several sites online that offer car insurance like E-Surance for example amongst many others. Most of these sites are pretty reliable for online auto insurance but they were a bit pricey. I’m only 19 years and I know that car insurance regardless will cost me a lot but after getting a quote on E-Surance, it was around $200 for just PLPD. I’ve searched through some message boards for online car insurance and have found that many people end up paying more for online auto insurance.

I’m not sure the reason for the price being more online but maybe it’s just because it’s more of a convenience since you can just print your insurance info off true on your computer. Personally I think that local insurance agencies are more beneficial since I can physically go visit them.

The no name local car insurance companies I personally have never dealt with. In my town I live in Michigan, I have a couple of these places throughout town. I’ve gotten quotes from each one just to peruse if I could be saving some money and both of them were around $150 a month for just PLPD. There was no way I could afford $150 right then and pay for gas and everything else each month so I decided to pass on these.

I’m skeptical of them anyways since it’s not a regular insurance agency like Region Farm for instance. I’m not entirely sure how many people get their insurance through the local companies but there are some that are reliable and if you can find one that offers the best rate, then congratulations.

Honestly, I think agencies like Status Farm are the best choice for getting car insurance. They are reliable; you normally will have an actual agent instead of just a few people working at a desk each day. I was able to find the best rate possible through State Farm but I figured that I could come by a better deal online or through a lower named place but it was the genuine opposite. These places are much more trustworthy and you can find them nationwide.

Bottom line, there are three main ways of getting car insurance but going through an agency in your town like State Farm is definitely your best option. It’s a national company, well-behaved, you can physically visit them if there’s a problem and you will have an dependable agent to talk to. Online car insurance is a good convenient method for anyone that doesn’t have a company like State Farm around them but it will most likely cost you more.

As in every situation presented, remain cucumber collected, and evaluate every single option available. There are many professional and efficient insurance groups, willing to work for your benefit. One company with the gleaming honor of having the highest rating for customer loyalty is New York Life Insurance Company. This company, peculiarly, offers no extravagant claims to offer promotional rates or low claims. Instead, they stand above the pack for choosing to advertise the greatest value for one’s monetary investment, and their strong sense of stability.

Site Farm Insurance is probably the most recognizable insurance companies. Admit it; you’ve seen their commercials a million and one times. Position Farm Insurance offers its clients dividends on their investment returns. In most cases, policyholders receive one to two dollars back from the cost of their premium each quarter. This money, defined as a dividend, is of limited financial significance, but the illusion of being paid by your insurance company is appealing to many customers.

If choosing insurance were a high school, the Western and Southern Life company, would definitely get the superlative of being the most computer savvy. Not only do they have a sleek and attractive web place, they also offer free online insurance quotes. They explain a wide array of insurance options, and if choosing the right one proves to be too daunting for a client, that customer is immediately aligned with a live agent who does every thing but the impossible to assist them.

John Hancock Life Insurance Company has the distinction of successfully operating for 100 years! They are constantly rated higher than other companies and present policyholders an attractive promise of long term options and financial stability.

You may recognize the name Gerber as a chain of baby products, but Gerber Life Insurance is a company that not only serves adults, but offers “grow up” plans for children. These unique plans offer premiums that remain the same throughout the child’s life. The value of the plan doubles as a special present for the child’s 21st birthday.

Global Life Insurance rounds up our list as a respected company that has been in business for half a century. They also follow the trend of plans for children, as well as uncouth introductory rates for children and adults alike. And as frosting to the cake, this company has first-rate ratings for meeting financial obligations to customers.

With no health care and other medical benefits that their counterparts enjoy, self-employed and freelancers are out on the lurch. There is no safety net for the independent workforce, until Sarah Horowitz spear-headed an insurance program called Freelancers Union.

Sarah Horowitz may be the answer to non-insured’s prayer. A Current York-based Freelancers Union fulfills many frustrating workforce’s attempts to acquire affordable insurance, and the Union recently announced its plans to start its own insurance company with the goal of offering a cheap system with good coverage.

A Cornell University graduate, Sarah Horowitz, is a former labor attorney and union organizer. Her goal is to form a union where freelancers with their collective power generate a group purchasing of insurance, resources and advocacy. The spectrum of services include health and dental coverage, disability, life insurance where rates are charged based on member needs, And many independent contractors are ever so grateful that Horowitz has championed their cause, and accomplish a success of providing the insurance.

That’s the Enterprising Idea feature presented by Jim Lehrer on PBS News Hour tonight.

Started in 1995, is a national non-profit organization called Freelancers Union grew out of the America’s growing independent workforce accounting for about 30% of the entire workforce.

The insurance is a better option than COBRA (an insurance program for continued insurance after leaving employment, but this is relatively expensive). There are eligibility guidelines to be met, but once you’re in, there is no need to keep justifying the eligibility.

American corporations are cost cutting and increase flexibility and the resulting consequence is increased independent workforce. According to the Freelancers Union, the workforce includes “the segment of the labor force working outside of standard employment arrangements as independent contractors, temporary workers, contract workers, leased workers, part-time workers, on-call workers, day laborers, and the self-employed.”

The FAQ have answers to most questions regarding eligibility and information about the company.

To be eligible for insurance, the applicant must a) be an independent worker, b) be a U.S. resident, c) work in an eligible industry or occupation and d) having documentation showing 20 hours worked in the last 8 weeks or earned at least $10,000 in the last six months.

The eligible industries are limited but used to only cover one industry when they first started in 2001. The industries covered are: a) Arts, Compose & Entertainment, b) Domestic Child Care Giver, c) Financial Services, d) Media & Advertising, f) Nonprofit, g) Skilled Computer User, h) Technology and i) Traditional or Alternative Health Care Provider. Over time, more benefits to cover more industries are added as negotiations continue with insurance carriers. A survey taken giving them suggestions helps them understand the needs of members that may have be able to cover and it also signs you up for the monthly e-newsletter for notable notifications.

Not everyone in the independent workforce is eligible to participate in the Freelancers Union presently, however, for those who are eligible, it provides a safety net of insurance and other health insurance products that they never had. Freelancers Union continues to work to increase more eligible industries.

President Obama hopes to provide insurance opportunities for millions of Americans who are not covered and this company could be the wheel to begin the research, instead of trying to reinvent the wheel from scratch.
